How to use the finance calculators

Most money questions come down to three things: how much, at what rate, and for how long. The loan and mortgage tools turn those into a monthly payment and a full amortization schedule, so you can see how much of each payment goes to interest. The savings and compound interest tools run the same math forward to show what steady contributions grow into.

Rates in these tools are annual percentage rates unless a field says otherwise. If a lender quotes an APR that includes fees, use it as the rate for a closer estimate of total cost. Every result is an estimate; lenders round differently and may add charges these tools do not know about.
