Salary to Hourly Calculator
Convert between hourly wage, daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and annual salary based on your hours and paid weeks.
How to convert salary to an hourly rate
Divide your annual salary by the number of hours you work in a year. A full-time job at 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is 2,080 hours, which gives a handy shortcut: hourly rate ≈ annual salary ÷ 2,080. Going the other way, multiply an hourly wage by 2,080 for a full-time annual figure.
Hourly = Annual ÷ (Hours per week × Paid weeks)
Quick reference
| Hourly | Weekly | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|---|
| $15 | $600 | $2,600 | $31,200 |
| $20 | $800 | $3,467 | $41,600 |
| $25 | $1,000 | $4,333 | $52,000 |
| $30 | $1,200 | $5,200 | $62,400 |
| $40 | $1,600 | $6,933 | $83,200 |
| $50 | $2,000 | $8,667 | $104,000 |
All figures assume 40 hours a week and 52 paid weeks, before taxes and deductions.
Bi-weekly vs semi-monthly pay
Bi-weekly pay arrives every two weeks, which is 26 paychecks a year; twice a year you get three paychecks in a month. Semi-monthly pay arrives twice a month, usually on the 1st and 15th, which is 24 paychecks. The annual total is the same, but each semi-monthly check is a little larger.
Comparing job offers
When comparing a salaried job with an hourly or contract role, account for unpaid time off. A contractor who takes four unpaid weeks a year works 48 weeks; set paid weeks to 48 to see the true annual figure. Also weigh benefits: employer health insurance, retirement matching and paid leave are often worth 20–30% of salary.
