Tip Calculator
Work out the tip and split the bill between any number of people, with an option to round up each share.
How to calculate a tip
Multiply the bill by the tip percentage, then add it to the bill. To split, divide the total by the number of people.
Tip = Bill × Tip% ÷ 100 Each pays = (Bill + Tip) ÷ People
A fast mental trick for 20%: move the decimal point one place left to get 10%, then double it. On an $86.40 bill, 10% is $8.64, so 20% is $17.28.

Tipping outside the US
Customs vary widely. In much of Europe a service charge is often included and rounding up or leaving 5–10% is normal. In Japan and South Korea tipping is uncommon and can cause confusion. In the UK, check the bill for a "discretionary service charge" of 12.5% before adding more.
Should you tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?
Etiquette guides traditionally say the pre-tax amount, but many people tip on the total for simplicity. The difference on a typical meal is small, often under a dollar.
