Degrees and radians

A full circle is 360 degrees or 2π radians, so one radian is about 57.296°.

Radians = Degrees × π ÷ 180 Degrees = Radians × 180 ÷ π

90° × π ÷ 180 = π/2 ≈ 1.5708 radians.

Other angle units

  • Gradians: 400 to a circle, so a right angle is 100 grad. Used in some surveying.
  • Arcminutes and arcseconds: 1° = 60′ = 3,600″. Used in astronomy, navigation and map coordinates.
  • Turns: one full rotation.

Most programming languages and scientific calculators expect radians in trigonometric functions, a common source of bugs.
